Job Portals are the Best places to find CVs
Lately, we’ve seen that many Recruiters have been disillusioned with effectiveness of Job Portals. The common complaint is that they don’t find appropriate CVs there. I feel this is a big misconception. I am listing down a few of my observations and then let you decide whether there is any merit to what I claim:
• Almost anyone who has ever looked for a job previously or who is looking for one currently, would have put up their CVs on a job portal. Naukri.com is probably the one job portal that receives the maximum applications. However, there are other job portals as well. So, what I mean to say is, if you don’t find your candidates there, the chances are you will not find them anywhere.
• Not everybody writes their CV in the same way. Even if the job portals mandate creating the profile in a structured manner, what is actually put by every Candidate is their perception of their skill and experience. As a result, there are situations where good, skilled Candidates get ignored due to their badly written CVs, and not-so-skilled Candidates get visibility because of their well written (often, exaggerated and manipulated) CVs.
• Although Job portals make significant efforts, Candidates seldom update their status about whether they are looking for jobs actively (hence “not looking for change” problems) and also the type of job they are looking for (hence “not interested” problems).
• Using the ‘Search’ function through existing database provides instant gratification of what’s available, thus it becomes easier to make a quick connection. However, as the Candidate does not know what’s on offer or is really not looking for a change, a significant amount of time is wasted in trying to find the one that works.
• Job posting is a logical solution, but one must wait till the right responses flow in. When the recruiters work under a stipulated time frame, such wait can be unnerving. Over a period of time, Recruiters tend to generate a healthy database of Candidates on their local machines, but almost never re-visit that data as it is not current and updated.
So, when the Recruiters combine the frustration of losing time and effort with eventually a ‘no-result’ from the above stated scenarios, they are definitely going to feel that the Job Portals don’t help.
Naukri and other leading job portals have committed themselves to garnering as many Candidate profiles they can get on their database. It is commendable, however, it is not only a huge financial commitment, but also a very strenuous effort to reach out to every nook and corner of the country trying to get every employable person on board.
However, the problem of recruiters is even bigger as it is time-consuming, tedious and stressful to find the most fitting Candidate (because it is like finding a needle in the haystack!) from the huge databases of the various Job Portals. So what’s the solution?
Explore specialist tools like www.Reckrut.com, that help Recruiters screen their CVs (found through job portals) in an intelligent, fast and cost-effective way. All you have to do is upload your job description, set questions from the available question bank and drag & drop CVs you found on the Job portals into Reckrut. Sit back and relax; Reckrut will use some complex machine algorithms and score the CVs. It will also get you a phone interview, and by implementing Speech Analytics, score Communication skills and Personality Traits of the Candidates.
Well, it does sound too good to be true, but what’s the harm in trying? It’s free; no risk! If it works, then you would have discovered a great tool to make your life easier. If it doesn’t, at least you tried!
But never give up on job portals, ever!
