Like most recruiters deal with a pool of candidates, they are like the many kinds of fish in the sea. With the ocean being a vast area, and every fish equipped with its own set of characteristics. Thus, catching the right fish, or job applicant is easier said than done.

The bait here is nothing but your company. The better you make your company seem, more jobseekers show interest. The more AI-based you are, the better you look, simple!

The hook here is without a doubt, what you offer to your potential employee. While the hook and rod method might help you find the right person, there is a whole new approach to hiring, which is using a fishing net, which is bulk hiring. While both have its advantages and flaws, we’ll look into them more in detail.

Fishing rod method: Known to be popular among hobbyists, this method includes a one-on-one personal touch to catch the right fish, or employee. Here the candidate calling, candidate screening, interview scheduling and onboarding happens on a very personal level.

The perks of this method include – establishing a more personal connection with a potential employee and being able to catch a specific fish using a specific hook/bait. If you want to catch a big fish, well, this works perfectly. But the biggest disadvantage of this method would be the fact that we spend hours of precious company time and money on coordinating. You would’ve literally gone through just a drop in the ocean, by the end of this.

Fishing net method: Picture this, you use a fishing net, and just dip it in the water, but you will never know what you will find. This is a sure-shot way to get a bunch of potential candidates without spending too much effort or time.

But there is a catch. When you use a fishing net, you can never be too sure what you might find. It could be a treasure, or just some sea debris, it’s a gamble. While jobseekers might come packed like sardines in huge numbers, finding the right person in this crowd could be difficult. The bright side is the fact that you would’ve spent lesser company time and resources for mass hiring, even though the right catch might remain a distant dream.

Ideally, recruiters need to find a fine balance between a fishing rod and a fishing net for finding the right fish in the sea. You must be wondering how to strike that perfect balance, right?

Callify.ai brings to the table AI-based recruitment processes that ensure that company time isn’t wasted on recruiter calls, telephonic interviews, and candidate onboarding, to name a few key time-wasters. By simplifying the process of seeking job applicants, you can reach out to more people like bulk hiring, but find the right person for a specific job like one-on-one recruitment. You can do all of this without rocking the boat. The (recruitment) world is your oyster now!
